shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation initiated by rare disease branch of shanghai medical association was officially established in shanghai in the morning of oct. 19th. xie lijuan, former vice mayor of shanghai people's government, initiator of shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation; ma qiang, executive vice chairman of shanghai red cross; wu jinglei, deputy party secretary of shanghai health and family planning committee; jia yong, deputy director of shanghai civil affairs bureau; and huang guoying, director of children's hospital of fudan university attended the inaugural ceremony. sponsors of the foundation, staff from shanghai rare disease care home, some patients and their families also attended the ceremony.


shanghai fosun foundation and shanghai fosun pharmaceutical (group) co., ltd (fosun pharma) were the co-sponsors of shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation. wu zhiliang, deputy party secretary of fosun, vice gm of the board and president office, secretary-general of fosun foundation; sun yuebo, vice gm of public affairs of fosun pharma, on behalf of the two units respectively, attended the ceremony.


during the ceremony, jia yong, deputy director of shanghai civil affairs bureau announced the decision on registering shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation. after that, xie lijuan, former vice mayor of shanghai people's government and deputy director jia yong jointly unveiled the foundation, and issued the honorary certificate for the sponsors. wu zhiliang, secretary-general of fosun foundation received the certificate.


at the end of the ceremony, xie lijuan, former vice mayor of shanghai addressed the ceremony, expressing her congratulations to the establishment of the foundation, as well as her expectation for the foundation to actively promote rare disease prevention and treatment and improve health.


the establishment of shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation is expected to facilitate basic medical insurance system of rare diseases and enhance diagnosis level of the medical staff.


as the starting fund of shanghai rare disease prevention and treatment foundation, the rmb 0.5 million jointly sponsored by shanghai fosun foundation and fosun pharma gives great support to the establishment of the foundation to constantly promote human health and actively help patients with rare diseases. meanwhile, the two units will closely follow up the subsequent progress of the foundation; leverage existing platforms and resources to improve expertise and participate in future health activities of rare diseases, thus make ongoing contribution to the improvement of human health.
